You see that this patient has got a fixed partial denture (Fixed Bridge) on her upper left side. You must have noticed that the teeth in the crown are definitely bigger in size as compared to the normal sized teeth on patient right side.
Over-size is all the more apparent in the molar region and she has got this bridge fixed two years ago but she is having no problem with this bridge. She had come with pain in some other tooth.
However, this photo has been uploaded just to make the readers understand that these oversized crowns may look harmless to the person who is using this bridge, but with time, more functional stresses generated due to more surface area of these crowns is injurious for periodontal health. Even otherwise, such oversized teeth because of poor contouring encourage food impaction with its attendant sequelae. Hence oversized artificial caps cause trouble in longrun.
