Living for 30 Years with HIV

When you hear about a man with HIV positive status, what do you think? –it is thought that he would develop AIDS in a couple of years and will pass away in a few years- not decades anyway!

But this cnn story-30years with HIV- three men reflect–  narrates the experiences of three men who are living with HIV for the last three decades. They share how living with HIV has changed.

In the early days of HIV/AIDS, there were no treatments and patients died quickly. Today with the development of antiretroviral drugs, people in the U.S are living decades.

Today, the prognosis is much better. While other countries continue to struggle to manage the disease, in the United States a diagnosis is no longer an automatic death sentence.

Do you notice anything in the stories of three men? –They are living a purposeful life – they are doing some sort of selfless service or working for a noble cause. There is a message here for HIV positive people that they should keep on leading a purposeful life, be unconditionally happy carefree, take balanced nutritious diet and remain physically active. We all know that all this is definitely peps up the immune systems thereby adding quality years to lives of positive people.
